The bike trail ledges are a classic Monterey skate spot that’ve been around for ages. Located just above Cannery Row on the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreational Trail, this spot caters to skaters who don’t mind dodging pedestrians and cyclists to get their trick. Though the trail isn’t usually too crowded, skaters should be mindful of everyone else using it to prevent any conflict or dispute. There are two main ledges, both of which have been heavily skated and are waxed slick. One ledge sits about 8 inches higher than the other which is probably a foot off of the ground. There’s also a bench, a woodchip gap, and a number of other obstacles within the region that can creatively be skated. The bike trail ledges are a super fun spot that can be skated for hours without boredom or the boot. Any skater in the area should definitely stop by and pay their respects to this infamous spot whether they choose to skate it or not.
