The Transit Plaza

Clear at first glance, the Monterey Transit Plaza is a common destination for skateboarders. It’s perched directly on top of Alvarado Street at the corner of East Pearl and Tyler Street and is primarily used as a bus station and a meet up spot for bums. The plaza in brilliantly surrounded on all four edges by steep concrete banks that can be slapped and shredded to your heart's content. All four corners feature as perfect wallrides, there are a number of ledges that can be grinded, and there are a couple of small stair sets and manuel pads too. This spot is full of small, jibby, and fun little features that can be skated in endless ways, it’s just up to you to choose how you skate it. Everyone perceives spots differently and this is just the spot to prove it. Come here with some friends and see what you can dream up. There is loads that can be done with this small little plaza, it might just require a little thinking. The Transit Plaza is smack dab in the middle of downtown Monterey, so you’re pretty much in the center of everything. Alvarado street, which is a street crossings away, holds some of the best restaurants and bars in Monterey. It’s also a skateable distance to the Monterey Skatepark as well as a handful of other spots. This spot is definitely a must hit if you’re in Monterey. Besides, you can’t really come to Monterey without coming across it at some point.
