Shotgun Ditch-Carmel Valley

Located across Carmel Valley Road from the Mid Valley Safeway, shotgun ditch has been a local skate hotspot for years. It’s a gnarly concrete storm drain that runs long and shallow into a deeper section at the end of the ditch where locals have crafted DIY lips and slight transitions with concrete. The end of the ditch can be skated like a halfpipe and is fairly smoothe for an old DIY ditch. As water does occasionally run through the ditch in winter months, the spot isn’t always available and it’s typical that leaves and debris have to be swept before you can skate it. Don’t be afraid to bring a broom and maybe even a rake out to the ditch and put in a little elbow grease to make your skate session worthwhile! The hard work is always worth the feeling of ripping down what feels like a never ending snake run. Enjoy this infamous Carmel Valley spot!
