old MPc Tennis Courts

DSC_0032.JPG

The abandoned tennis courts located right below Monterey Peninsula College are the perfectly smooth warm up spot that every skater fantasizes of. Being abandoned and all, you’re guaranteed not to disrupt anyone as skaters are the main occupants of this abandonment. Located on Glenwood Circle, the courts don’t exactly stand out as there is no longer a fence around them and the color of concrete has started to blend with the overgrown grass around the courts. Besides warm ups and flatground, the cracking courts (nothing too major) also offer a gorgeous rock gap which starts on the old courts and gaps into the parking lot about 2 and a half feet below. The gap is roughly 2 feet long and 2.5 feet tall and is ideal for building confidence when it comes to skating gaps/drops. The landing is a little crusty and beat as it’s just an old asphalt parking lot, but it’s still very skateable and enjoyable. For a while, locals left parking blocks and DIY ledges which were unfortunately confiscated by the city, however there may still be a parking block or two up there. Regardless, this tennis court is an awesome, lowkey, warm up spot that’s less than a mile from the Monterey Skatepark!
